Our instructors work with the scholars to help develop their own business ideas and/or prepare them to work for other businesses.
Instructors work with the scholars to develop visions boards, mission and vision statements, business plans, as well as marketing and advertising campaigns. In addition, we assist them in developing and creating their business images with photoshoots, video shoots, audio ads, and print design and web designs.
Scholars learn to design programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, and InDesign and software programs i.e. Microsoft and Google Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
During the development of their businesses, scholars are taught different marketing and branding theories and how to operate the different equipment needed to produce the different end products.
In order to expose these future business owners or current business owners, scholars take trips to other businesses and media outlets.
At the end of the program, scholars put on professional exhibitions of their developed business.
The C.A.L.M. Center believes that each youth and adolescent should be properly nourished in order to effectively focus and perform within our summer development program. Therefore, scholars will receive breakfast, lunch, and snack. Meals will also be made available to community members to any requesting community members.
The center will also provide life skills workshops to instruct scholars on budgeting, parenting, and meal planning for entrepreneurs.
Working with youth and adolescents in low-income and single-parent households, we understand the value of transporting the scholar to and from the program. The C.A.L.M. Center will provide pick-up and drop off transportation.
